Recently married and living in Vancouver, we got a chance to use my mom's Points through her RCI membership to book some accommodation.
My husband, infant son and I made our first family holiday a trip to Vancouver Island, where we stayed at Pacific Shores Resort & Spa. We checked into a studio suite for one night, and were put up in the newest building.
The surroundings were excellent; a 24 hr hot tub, the mineral pools, oceanside walkways, and a fine restaurant on site. I took advantage of the deep soaker tub, and really enjoyed our first night of three out of town.
We used Points for this one night stay and were happy with the minor charges to book it.

Next day we continued to a hotel in Port Alberni, part of the freight cruise package, a two night stay with dinner, and the day on the Alberni inlet with a freight ship.
We transported some Aboriginal children to a summer camp, delivered freight, then picked up some of the hikers from Bamfield and the West Coast Trail.
We were fortunate to see a Humpback whale within 5 feet of the boat! It frolicked and went under the boat and up the other side, playing with us. What an awesome experience. |

See one of the new units for yourself!

This day trip leaves Port Alberni dock at 8am and arrives back about 5pm, so it's a full day. The weather was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more.
This 3 day excursion with my 7 week old son was a great experience and we are really excited to find out more about the RCI Points options, and we will be sure to use these in the future. Maybe our next trip will be to Aviawest at The Pacific Rim in Ucluelet, with my mom.
