There's much to be said for a local BC holiday trade from our home-resort at Aviawest on beautiful Vancouver Island, as much as we and our family thoroughly appreciate the multi-location accommodations offered there.

We traded a week to go up to the Okanagan recently to enjoy the Fall colours, and do some wine tours, and were rewarded on both counts.

The weather was magnificent as BC can be. The colours were exceptional, and the many choices of wineries were overwhelming.

Comparisons between the Island and the Okanagan are many. Bordered by much water - relaxing away from the urban rush - much to see and do.

All in all, the scenery puts away the normal daily routines and concerns.

Forunately, we were back home in Richmond for two days when the Coquihalla was partially closed down with a fresh snowfall. Not on our itinerary to see that trip.
