San Diego, RCI Style
February/March 2007

Like other coastal cities in California, San Diego is all about sun, surf and style.

What makes San Diego unique is the array of special attractions, ideally grouped in the area.

"The variety of activities makes it welcoming to all age groups," says Junvi Ola of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"For example, we have attractions for the kids; golf, shopping outlets, and spas for the parents; beaches for the teenagers; museums and theatre, as well as casinos for the seniors. Plus, everyone enjoys the Mediterranean climate with practically year-round sunshine."

In addition to having endless amenities and activities, San Diego has a good selection of RCI resorts.

About San Diego:

The city and county are named after the flagship of the Portugese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo who discovered and claimed the bay. San Diego is a multi-cultural area, rich in heritage that has been experiencing an urban revitalization for the last two decades.

While staying in San Diego, most visitors will want to take in some of the area's shopping. In addition to the notable Horton Plaza - a vibrant, five-level downtown shopping centre - the communities of Carlsbad and Alpine are shopping destinations. A day trip to Mexico is also an option with the border nearby.

San Diego county boasts a semi-arid climate of mild sunny weather and average daily temperature of 21.4ºC. Varied topography offers coastal, mountain and desert environments in close proximity. So what should you pack?

"Unless we're having warm Santa Ana winds, layers are a must," says Ola. "Bring shorts, comfortable sandals, short-sleeved shirts and a light jacket for evenings and at the beaches. A bathing suit to lay on the beach too."
