Travel Tips from Owner Services
September 2006

Some great tips for your next RCI holiday:

1. Take a camera that is capable of underwater shots. You can pick up a great Olympus camera with 6.1 pixels that is able to produce lovely clear photos at 10 feet under water. These are great if you're snorkeling, or just hanging around the pool. These pictures will create part of the memories that will keep re-telling themselves.

2. Purchase a waterproof container, (available at most outdoor adventure type stores) that will enable you to keep your room keys, credit cards or money in them while your around water.

3. For those long layovers in the airport, if you haven't been able to get a good flight, bring a portable DVD player. This will keep you and the kids interested for a good couple of hours. The new Philips available at Costco now has a rechargeable battery that is good for 6 hours.

4. If you're going snorkeling, take a can of corn and a small can opener with you. Also, bring some small zip lock bags with you to put the corn into. Throw some corn into the water and watch all those great tropical fish swim into eat it. This is the perfect time to catch them with that underwater camera.

5. Check and see if your resort that you're staying at has a photographer on site. Some resorts have a photographer who is available to take pictures of your family at the resort or on the beach. Many times they will take up to 25 -30 shots and put them on a disc for you to purchase. I recently stayed in Cabo San Lucas and arranged this at the resort that I stayed at. My favourite pictures by far are of my family. I know we will treasure those moments on the beach as the sun was setting. The photographer captured our memories that evening for $60 US.

6. Always check with your local provider on your cell phone. Many times you will be able to purchase a package that allows you an amount of roam time that will save you many costly dollars in keeping in touch with home.

I hope these small tips may prove helpful to you at some point in your next travels!
