Paradise in the Bahamas - By Request
December 2006

The sprinkling of islands flanking Florida and Cuba known as The Bahamas have become a world-famous destination synonymous with tropical paradise.

Home to expansive beach resorts, Paradise Island more than lives up to it's name near the city of Nassau on the central island of New Providence. Teal, turquoise and aquamarine waters surround bright off-white sands around the coast.

From exclusive high-end clubs to 14th-century French architecture, visitors can experience atmosphere ranging from tropical luxury to pirate nostalgia.

A few resorts we noticed are:

Paradise Island was previously owned by Donald Trump and Merv Griffin. Movies including the Beatles' Help! as well as Bond movies Thunderball and the current hit Casino Royale were filmed at locations around Paradise.

Almost exclusively dedicated to tourism, very few private residences exist on the 685 acre island. Connected to the city of Nassau by bridges, the island is thoroughly developed, but retains it's exotic, authentic charm.

Tours of this Caribbean hot-spot are offered by land, air and sea covering a variety of themes from historic and geographic to cultural and eco-oriented. An endless list of activities cover entertainment, shopping, sports, arts, festivals and more.

When you explore Paradise, remember to bring your camera and your sense of adventure.

Thanks to John Grantham and Cindy Hildebrandt for requesting a profile of Paradise Island.
