The kitchen was well equipped and I had taken enough food that I was well fed all week at low cost. My bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. I never did get in the pool or sauna, but those were options. It was very quiet and peaceful there which allowed for a real rest.
Part of the holiday became a reading break and I was able to read books relating to my course at North Island College. No guilt about not doing chores around my home... I wasn't there! Each day, I was able to take walks in the vicinity on well prepared paths and my camera was busy with the fall leaves, various plants and Lost Lake.
There were a number of art galleries in various locations that inspired me for future projects and it was great to have the leisure time to browse through them and even to return for second looks. As this was the shoulder season, local people had time to chat and were very helpful. Oh, yes, if desired, one can catch a 'free' bus around the area paid for by the hotels. It was very nice for going uphill. One guest did join me for the weekend and we had a great meal at an Indian restaurant in the village then retired to our sofas for a binge of DVD viewing.
Since the location is not far from home, the return trip was easy... no waits at an airport for instance. I would suggest that you check the ferry schedule however - at this time in the winter, there is a long wait between 12:30 and 3:00 pm. Thank goodness for Trolls!
