Position: SOUS CHEF
Location: Parksville, BC (Pacific Shores Resort & Spa)
Reports to: Executive Chef
The Landing West Coast Grill, located at Pacific Shores Resort & Spa, is looking to enrich the current team with the addition of a new Sous Chef. The Sous Chef will work directly with the Executive Chef to maintain and exceed the high quality and creative menu that the Landing is known for as well as at the same time ensuring the best possible dining experience for guests and restaurant patrons.
Duties:
- Take control of the kitchen when the Executive Chef is away from the kitchen
- Work hands-on with kitchen team to ensure dishes are created to required levels of quality
- Prepare menu specials every day including soups, sauces and ingredients as required
- Ensures the kitchen team works safely and in a timely manner
- Passionate for food trends and to learn new techniques
- Identify and make recommendations to executive chef with regards to kitchen operations, menus and staff at the Landing

- Lead team to daily successes and assist in continuous training and developing skills in all aspects (safety, cost-efficiency, cooking, presentation)

Successful candidate will be a highly energetic individual who is excited about the challenges that our high-end resort demands and aims to achieve the strong professional growth this opportunity provides.
- Preferred five years minimum of well-rounded culinary experience, with one year as Sous Chef. Culinary education an asset
- Minimum three years of fine dining experience
- Food Safe required (Level 2 preferred)
- First Aid would be a bonus
- Professional in presentation and attitude
Pay Scale: $32,000 salary plus bonus based on achievable goals
Hours: Flexibility required. Average of fifty hours per week with overtime being converted into extra days off.
